Family Fun

After our sister retreat Jon brought the kids up to make some family memories. Which, we did. We had so much fun swimming in the pool! Lydia is fearless of the water!

We also rode a tram\ski-lift thingy from our hotel, to the farmers market down the road a bit. It was a ton of fun! A little scary because Lydia could have easily slid through the bottom of the basket, so Jon held her the whole time, while I held my little boyfriend the whole time. We had such a fun time!

Here's Lydia looking way cool on the ride home. She LOVES wearing glasses when she sees us wearing them. It's so stinking cute! She really thinks she's cool. She's not trying to be funny or anything, which makes it even better!

Park City Get Away!

So, the girls in my family have started a tradition of a sister get away each year. The last two years we've gone to Park City and stayed in a really great resort! We spent three days there this year, and had a total blast!
This particular restuarant is the "Redstone"... something. Anyway, our topic of discussion here was our waiter. He had one of the DEEPEST voices I have ever heard, which I found annoying, but the girls thought it was way hot. I was the odd ball out. I should probably get use to it though, because something tells me Ben is going to have a pretty deep voice. Anyway, we had a WAY great time! Almost no kids, staying up until 2 a.m. each day, pedicure, etc. It was so fun. Jon was the ultimate husband and even took 2 days off of work so I could have "me" time. How unselfish is that! Thanks Babe!

Bringin' back the sponges

Hey everyone! Don't these bring back such great memories? Watching an evening show with mom as she wraps your hair in the multi-colored sponge curlers. And with each snap of a curler, you know it's going to be a pain in the butt to be sleeping with these things....

And yet, we put up with it. Why? Because of the end result naturally! We are going to be knock outs come that next morning, that we take the pain like any real woman would. That, my friends, is a sacrifice I was willing to make this day... Actually, in all honesty, I didn't sleep with these ones. I put them in early morning, and wore them all day. The SECOND I took them out, the doorbell rang. I had no idea who it was, and I was Shirley Temple and didn't know what to do. It ended up being a friend of Jon's- perfect- and when I opened the door I started crying and laughing all together because I was SO embarrassed. He had a good laugh too... Lydia, on the other hand, looks like a doll with the curlers in! Love it!

3 Year Anniversary

Aren't they beautiful!!!???
Happy Anniversary Baby!! I love you so much! Jon and I are pretty seasoned married people now. It honestly feels like we have known eachother atlest 10 years and 6 months and 3 days.:)
Unfortunatley, we spent about 1 hour together today. Jon is doing finals, working long at work, planning a church party thing, putting billions of hours into homework, etc. So, we ate a nice steak dinner at 9:30 at night, here at home. Jon gave me these beautiful roses, and a card that was so sweet. The best part of the card was the envelope... no joke. It said "My Wife- My Life". Jon didn't even have to write in the card, because those 4 words meant so much to me. I know that I am his life because everything he does he does for me and the kids. He is the most selfless wonderful person in the world. I love you so much Honey. I look forward to a billion more anniversaries with you. I'll love you forever and ever!

Our Kids, Our Life

Lydia and Ben bring so much joy to us. Not a day goes by that we don't thank the Lord for our children. I feel so blessed to be a mother and to experience this love that is so complete- words can't even BEGIN to describe. I often have a lump in my throat and feel as if my heart is going to pound out of my chest. I know that Jon feels the same way...

Lydia Having Fun

Lydia found this mysterious fun new thing to wear! So, she wore it, and she loved it...

Mom Having Fun

If I had my way, hats would be manditory for all little kids! Ben obviously was loving me use him as my doll to dress up. I personally loved the hat and would have kept it on, but Jon had to save his son from "humiliation" and had me take it off him.

July 11-12, 2008
Yes. We did pull an overnighter... well, almost. It was our ward campout weekend and I was so ready to do something out of the ordinary so we packed up (our whole house practically) and were off! After the typical stressful packing of the car and mom losing her cool with dad for some dumb reason routine, we were off! To the great outdoors! That thankfully, were only a 30 minute drive away. I had made some foil dinners and we were starving by the time we got up there! I contemplated eating it raw, I was that hungry. I'm not the charcoal lighting kind of girl- probably because I just don't have the patience with starting a mini fire and blowing on it and keeping the flame going- so Jon did the honors as I pulled out the tent... And after it was pulled out, it layed there.... as I stared and hoped it would just magically come together. Which it did! Thanks to our good friend Kellen who could tell I wasn't getting anywhere with the task at hand. :) Secretly I didn't want Jon to know that someone set the tent up. I wanted the glory, but then my conscience kicked in and I gave credit where it was due.
We had a lovely time! We probably sampled 5 different cobblers and desserts that night. Lydia stayed busy with her stroller and other peoples camping chairs. Ben stayed wrapped up and that's pretty much all he did. We really had a great time... until it was 3:30 am and we were out of warm water for Ben's bottle! That's when I packed up myself and Ben and we came home for the rest of the night, returning for breakfast in the morning. So, so fun!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

July 8, 2008

I can't believe the day has come were I have my own little family, and we had our own family party for a man my CHILDREN call DAD! My very own HUSBAND! Why it is hitting me so hard right now, I don't know. But, I do know that it is the best!!! We sang the song, we ate the homemade cake, and opened the meager little gifts. I wish I had a million dollars to blow on some awesome gifts for Jon, but quite frankly, I don't- so I took a sentimental approach this year. Jon has had about 8 pairs of pants or shorts with holes in the back pocket area or the knees. For over a year now he has asked me to patch them up. "Okay dear! Let me pull out my needle and thread for you! Oh, while I'm at it I'll try to find some sewing skills." :) But I, being the domestic goddess I am, patched those babies right up!... Kind of. I put patches on the inside, so you still see holes, but atleast you're not seeing skin... I did experience some problems, so half of the stitch is white, and the other side is black. I can't even thread a bobbin! BUT! Atleast I do know it's called a bobbin! And that which I could not fix, magically became shorts instead of pants- no patch required- or was simply thrown out. I really did want to do a good job. Since I have more time at home now I'll work on those lost skills.

Hot Momma!

Here we have two of the cutest girls in the world... sporting their best dews. :) Mary had some time off of work and wanted to spend sometime with our family. We did a girls night of putting our hair in spunge curlers, something we haven't done since Mary and I were sharing a room... We also watched 27 dresses, which we loved! Except for the part where we lost the case of the movie and had redboxed it, so I was unable to return it for a few days and thought I'd have to buy the thing, but found out that you could buy a case at the redbox machine!!! It upset me if you couldn't tell, but was kind of funny. We still to this day can not find the case!! The original one that is... I'd like to blame it on Lydia, probably because she can't defend herself yet and I don't want to think I'm losing my mind.

Blessing Ben

July 6, 2008
So he's pretty much the most handsome little man I have ever seen! He knew this was going to be his special day!
This smile isn't a fluke thing. Ben has been smiling since he was about 1 month old. It seemed kind of early to me, but he does it more and more each day. He especially smiles at Lydia. He thinks she's pretty funny!
We had a lot of family come to the blessing, and did a little lunch thing after. I was so worried Ben was going to scream during his blessing, but he was actually very good, and only let out one little yell at the end. Probably his way of saying "AMEN!"
